Sponsored for more than 50 years by Journalism Education Association and National Scholastic Press Association, 
the twice-yearly convention serves thousands of high school journalists, advisers and journalism teachers. Below are some frequently asked questions about conference registration.

How do I find my member number?

  • To find your JEA membership number, login to the member portal on jea.org. Click the “My Info” tab, then under “Contact Info” your member number should be displayed beneath your name. Please contact staff@jea.org with questions.
  • To find your NSPA membership number, login to the member portal. Click the menu item “My Account” and then select “Membership” in the dropdown. Your member number will appear underneath the membership details. Please contact info@studentpress.org with questions.

How can I add more attendees to my original order?

You can add more students and advisers to your original registration by using the “view/modify registration” link in your original confirmation email. You will need the email address you registered with and your confirmation number which is also included in your confirmation email.

When I click next on my registration, it brings me to the top of the same page.

You are missing a required field. There should be text in red at the top of the page that says what information you are missing.

How do I register more than one student/adviser for a workshop?

The system will first ask you to enter all of your registrant’s contact information. Once you’ve completed entering your registrants, the next page will allow you to choose items for individuals.

How can I print an invoice?

Your confirmation email contains your invoice. If you need a PDF invoice, please reach out to register@studentpress.org.

I already registered and forgot to add a Best of Show entry or workshop. How can I do so now?

There is a link in your confirmation email to view/modify your registration. You will need the email address you registered with and your confirmation number which is also included in your confirmation email.

I modified my registration and removed an optional item but the total does not reflect the item being removed.

Cancellations are not allowed and refunds will not be given. If you remove an item after your registration is submitted, the total will not change because you still owe for that item. If you have questions about this please contact register@studentpress.org.

One of my students cannot attend. How can I replace them with another student?

There is a link in your confirmation email to view/modify your registration. You will need the email address you registered with and your confirmation number which is also included in your confirmation email. Once you are back in the registration portal, you can select the registrant you’d like to edit. You can also contact register@studentpress.org for help making changes.

Can a student attend without a teacher or adviser?
Students must be accompanied by a teacher or adviser in order to attend the National High School Journalism Conference.

I registered but when can I book my hotel room?

If you have already registered for the convention, you will receive a hotel booking link once the hotel reservations open. If you have not registered by the time the hotel reservations open, then you will receive a hotel booking link in your convention registration confirmation email.

How do I register for the JEA national student media contests?
The NSMC application is not in the convention registration system. Register on the JEA NSMC website.
